What is the change happening on November 7?
Today we celebrate the coming together of the NortonLifeLock and Avast companies as a new single entity. We are introducing Gen™, our new multi-brand company, with a new name, logo and visual identity to employees, partners, investors and the world. As one company, we will redefine and reimagine Cyber Safety for consumers and small businesses around the globe. Gen will power Digital Freedom for people everywhere. Why are you making this announcement now?
This is following our announcement on September 12 when NortonLifeLock Inc. completed the acquisition of Avast. With the transaction now officially closed, we are notifying our partners about our exciting next step with a new single company identity.
What does the new name mean?
Gen is derived from the word ‘Generation’ inspired by the linking of generations. Not defined by age, but any person connected to the digital world. Within the ‘G’, the arrow symbolizes regeneration and our continuous cycle in online development. Our heritage is rooted in protecting the first digital generations. Gen brings leading technology solutions in cybersecurity, online privacy and identity protection to our nearly 500 million users so they can live their digital lives more safely, privately and confidently –today and for generations to come.
What is the new NASDAQ ticker symbol?
Starting on Nov. 8 at 9:30 am ET, the company will trade on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange under the symbol “GEN.” We will no longer trade as “NLOK” moving forward.
Where are company headquarters?
Gen has dual headquarters in Tempe, Arizona, USA and Prague, Czech Republic.
Does this change or impact your current consumer brands, like Norton, Avast, LifeLock, Avira, etc.?
No, the company name and logo change does not impact our family of trusted consumer brands. As Gen continues to grow and evolve as a multi-brand company in a single category, we are committed to each of our unique consumer brands (Norton, Avast, LifeLock, Avira, AVG, ReputationDefender and CCleaner) to help us grow and reach new audiences while also maintaining a clear broad Company brand (Gen).
What happens to Avast now?
The Avast consumer brand, products and services will continue as part of Gen’s family of trusted, award-winning brands. There is no longer an Avast company.
How is Gen different than NortonLifeLock or Avast?
Gen is the company name and legal entity that operates as a multi-brand company with many consumer brands -Norton, Avast, LifeLock, Avira, AVG, ReputationDefender, CCleaner. The nearly 500 million people who use our brands, products and services today will continue to purchase and get protection from Gen’s family of trusted consumer brands. The only change is that our company name is changing from NortonLifeLock and Avast to Gen.
How does this impact my existing relationship or agreements with you?
At this time, there are no changes to your partner agreements or billing arrangements. In the coming months, your Sales & Marketing Account Team will help ensure a plan is in place to communicate important changes.
What does this mean for me as a partner?
We are creating an industry leading, global company powering Digital Freedom through our family of growing and trusted consumer brands. Our established brands, technical expertise and innovation will help deliver substantial benefits to your customers and you as valuable stakeholders.
Does this impact the products and services I sell today?
No. There are no changes to our products and services at this time. If there are changes in the future, we will make them with the goal of providing premium and innovative products and services to help protect and enable consumers’ digital lives. We will continue to keep you informed about updates to our products and services.
